Jody Wheeler- An Imaginative, Inspiring and Impeccable Illustrator

Artist Jody Wheeler touches the heart and sparks the imagination of the viewer with her wonderful watercolor prints that can help calm a busy day with soothing still life or spark inspiration with her children’s fantasy images.

Jody’s start into the artistic realm began with her Great Aunt Opal Wheeler, a prolific writer of mid-century children’s books, who would give Jody her compilations as Christmas gifts.  Jody would admire the illustrations on the pages and immediately envisioned her destiny!  After graduating from Elmira College, she took a leap of faith and fortune by moving to New York City to pursue a career in illustration.  After working at such notable publishers as the Dial Press and Simon & Schuster, she then established her own free-lance illustration business.

Jody primarily works in watercolor and ink but boasts expertise in a variety of other mediums.  This gives her full range to produce paintings and drawings showing the softer, simpler side of life and all of its wonders.  She has a particular affinity for the world of fairies, fantasy and nature and enjoys creating charming characters, subjects and themes that appeal to young and old alike.

One of the major highlights of Jody’s career has been to illustrate books featuring some of the most famous children’s books characters, created by legendary writers like Marjorie Weinman Sharmat, Don Freeman, and Ludwig Bemelmans, which have been beloved by millions of young readers over the years.

On a personal note, Jody derives great joy by impacting young eyes and minds as she frequently conducts presentations about her artistic career to schools and fairs across the tri-state region.

One of Jody’s idols whom she would love to have met is illustrator and author Tomie dePaola, an extremely talented, eccentric and amazingly prolific literary force whose work adorned 270 books that sold more than 25 million copies.

When not producing her works of wonder, Jody loves getting outdoors and enjoying the fresh air. Whether jogging along the Hudson in NYC, or walking, canoeing and star gazing the amazing night sky of the Adirondacks in upstate NY, getting away from her drawing board for a bit is always the best medicine.

Jody’s art has been featured in books published by Penguin Random House, Scholastic Books and HarperCollins.

Alan Giana- A Soothing, Serene, Scenic Landscape Artist Sensation!

Born and raised in Connecticut, Alan Giana always wanted to be an artist, having watched his father, an accomplished ceramic artist, apply glazes and different painting techniques.  In fact, one of Alan’s first works of art was at the age of four when he grabbed a magic marker and proceeded to scribble on the wall with it. Needless to say, his parents were not too happy, but a career was certainly set in motion. Throughout his school years Alan always loved drawing and painting and went on to college to earn a degree in graphic design management.

Alan started his own illustration and design company in the early 1990’s and has worked on a variety of commercial projects. His creations have appeared on book covers, magazines, children’s games, music CDs, and have been published in several books and magazines.

His brilliant designs have won many awards, including the Pro-Comm Award of Excellence by the Business Marketing Association, the Premier Print Award by the Printing Industries of America, and the Oppenheim Toy Portfolio Best Toy Award.  Alan’s paintings have been displayed in numerous galleries and shows around the country, including The Delaware Art Museum.

Alan’s appreciation for nature and the sea have always been a big part of his life and play an important part in the inspiring artwork that he creates today. Alan’s paintings of scenic landscape prints, consisting of colorful paths, charming country hideaways, soothing coastal waterways and captivating Christmas scenes, transport the beholder to a peaceful place and  tranquil state of mind.

Alan’s heartwarming and nostalgic creations have touched the lives of people all over the world and have generated millions of dollars in revenue for the companies that license his inspiring images for their product lines.  These have included puzzles, calendars, checks, Christmas cards, gift bags and boxes, tins, mugs, canvas prints, placemats, note cards, list pads, coasters, magnets, clocks, thermometers, music boxes, cross-stitch kits, flags and many more, which are sold in mass-market retailers, independent gift shops, direct mail catalogs and online retailers.   Alan’s artwork has also appeared on The Today Show, NBC National television network and QVC television network.
