Christine Reichow…Watercolor Wonder Capturing Nature’s Majesty!

Award-winning, watercolor landscape artist Christine Reichow’s unique style of simplicity balanced with a keen eye for detail delights the senses and produces an elegant effect in her exquisite collection of tropical birds, flowers, dragonflies, butterflies and all things nature.

Whether creating an intricate orchid, majestic eagle or fluid water garden, Christine strives to stir emotion within the observer, ultimately transporting the viewer into the scene to have an experiential relationship with the particular subject matter.  Her hand-painted watercolor process puts her into an altered state of consciousness that is meditative but exciting, mysterious as well as satisfying and always pleasurable beyond imagination.

Christine’s artistic journey is rooted in childhood as her mother was a successful oil painter, who encouraged Christine to paint and draw as a toddler.  She was the designated class artist in school and as a young adult, she became a weaver, spinner and dyeing expert along with silk painter and wearable art seamstress.  In 1998, she began taking art classes in oil painting, pastel, colored pencil and watercolor.  Watercolor quickly became her medium of choice due to its difficulty, and Christine was determined to master it.

Simultaneously, Christine’s father encouraged and cultivated a deep affinity and love for nature.  Their numerous wildlife walks, which included the names of each plant, flower and animal, gave Christine an environmental education that was well beyond anything she could receive

in a formal school setting.  Upon moving to Florida, Christine was immediately mesmerized by the large, beautiful birds, lush, tropical flowers, rich foliage and sweeping landscapes.  Besides her own bountiful backyard and neighborhood, she derives inspiration for her luminous landscapes by travelling to various destinations across the nation and world.

Living in the South, Christine boasts a burning desire to meet Mary Whyte, an accomplished South Carolina watercolor artist, who paints portraits that profoundly touch everyone’s soul.

Christine’s most memorable professional milestone has been her induction into the American Watercolor Society, National Watercolor Society, Transparent Watercolor Society, Watercolor West, Southern Watercolor Society and Florida Watercolor Society.  Her watercolor works have been featured in Bonita & Estero Magazine, TOTI Media, Inc., Spotlight Magazine, Naples, Bonita Springs & Estero Magazine, as well as exhibits in Fabriano, Italy.

A family woman at heart, Christine’s greatest personal accomplishment has been birthing and raising three wonderful children with whom she loves to spend time.  Activities that lift her spirit and nourish her soul include exercising, hiking, reading, journaling, kayaking, swimming, exploring new lands and studying history.

Christine’s exquisite creations have been licensed for greeting cards manufactured by Norcard, wall art by iCanvas and jigsaw puzzles by Bits and Pieces.
