Artist Bio
Ann Jasperson, Illuminated Botanicals of Brilliant Color and Composition
Artist Ann Jasperson’s lifelong love for the garden shines brightly in her illuminated botanical art prints of flowers, plants and nature that will grow any product line.
Ann received her first art scholarship at age 11 and kept cultivating her craft, eventually earning a BFA from the Cleveland Institute of Art and moving to Brooklyn, NY to launch her career.
Having originated from a family of gardening fanatics, Ann channels past memories of her grandmother’s beautiful floral gardens in her paintings today. From her readings, she learned that the Victorians were obsessed with the symbolic meanings of flowers. She views each bloom as a living memory, nurtured and cultivated into its own natural masterpiece. Other subjects that inspire and influence her artwork include clouds, sunsets and food.
Ann photographs flowers everywhere she goes, print out those images and creates a composition of multiple shots from which she uses as a guide in painting. Ann’s unique artistic technique involves pairing bright pops of color against black paper so that the specific image appears like a shining light in the night. Each contrast of colors and combination of shapes produces a peaceful feeling within the viewer.
It’s no surprise that Ann credits Wayne Thiebaud, an American painter known for his colorful works depicting commonplace objects, landscapes and figure paintings, as her muse.
When not creating on her canvas, Ann takes her talent outside by designing and growing a variety of gardens. She enjoys the fruits of her labor by cooking meals every night, including 7-course complex dinners for family and friends.
In addition to painting her illuminated art prints, Ann doubles as both a cartoonist and toy inventor. She designed Thundercats toys and has been sought after for her superhero drawings. Her vast work has been covered on Toy Hunter and Marvel 616 on Disney Plus.
